Privacy Policy
The short version
QuoteXpedia works without an account and keeps what you do on this device. Signing in is optional; if you do, your saves sync through our server so they reach your other devices. We do not sell your personal data, the app contains no advertising, and usage analytics and crash reports are sent only if you allow them.
What stays on your device
Creations, your interests, reminder settings, and the name or bio you add to your profile are stored only on this device. So are saved quotes, collections, and reactions, unless you sign in. Deleting the app, or using Reset All Local Data in Edit Profile, removes them from this device.
Account
If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, Firebase Authentication, a Google service, stores an account identifier and the name and email address the provider shares. While you are signed in, your saved quotes, collections, and reactions are stored on our server with that identifier, so the same library appears on each device you sign in on. Sync carries only what you saved, collected, or reacted to, never what you read or search, and creations are never uploaded. Signing out stops syncing and leaves your library on this device. Deleting the account from Profile first deletes your synced data from our server, then the account itself.
Reports
When you report a problem with a quote, the quote, the reason you chose, your note, and the app version are sent to our server so an editor can review it. The report carries no account, name, or device identifier, and a copy stays on this device.
Content updates
The app downloads new quotes and backgrounds from our server. Those requests carry nothing about you, and what you read is never reported back.
Notifications
Daily reminders are scheduled on this device and name the day’s quote. They carry nothing about you, and appear only if you allow notifications.
Photos
When you save a design, the app asks for add-only access to your photo library. It can add the image you chose and cannot see your other photos.
A photo you choose from your library as an editor background is copied into the app's storage on this device only. It is never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
Purchases
Premium is bought through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; the app only receives confirmation of what you are entitled to, never your payment details.
Diagnostics and analytics
Usage analytics, crash reports, and performance timings are sent to Google Firebase only after you allow them in Profile, and stop when you deny them. They never include search terms, quote text, creations, or anything you type. The app also fetches settings from Firebase Remote Config, which identifies the installation with a random ID, not you. Diagnostics are assembled on this device and only leave it if you choose to share them yourself.

Third-party processors
We use a small number of services, and only for the purposes below. Each processes data under its own privacy policy.
- Google Firebase — Authentication (sign-in with Apple or Google), Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring and Remote Config, for the account features and diagnostics described above.
- Apple — App Store purchases, and Sign in with Apple if you choose it.
- Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with a Google account.
- Our own server, hosted on a VPS, for syncing your library, receiving quote reports, and serving content updates.
Data retention
Your synced library is kept until you delete your account in the app or ask us to delete it. Deleted data may remain in encrypted server backups for up to 14 days before those backups are overwritten. Backups are used only to restore the service after a failure. Reports are kept as long as needed to review the quote they concern. Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings of our Firebase project.
Your rights and choices
You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will respond within the time the law allows. You can withdraw consent for analytics at any time in Profile under Privacy & Data, which stops the app sending them. You can delete your account and your synced data yourself in the app, from Profile, at any time, or write to diatomicsoft@gmail.com and we will do it for you. Where the law gives you a right to object to processing, to restrict it, or to receive your data in a portable form, you can exercise it through the same contact.
Children
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If a future version handles data differently, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the date above will change.
